Organic Supermarket Expands Card Acceptance with Installation of Contactless Payment Readers

VIENNA, April 12, 2012 – First Data Corporation, a global leader in electronic commerce and payment processing, and denn’s Biomarkt, Austria’s largest organic foods supermarket chain, today announced the introduction of contactless cards acceptance at denn’s Biomarkt stores.

The purveyor of fresh fruit and vegetables, organic dairy produce, body-care and cosmetics, in 2011 selected First Data to renew its point-of-sale terminal infrastructure. In doing so, denn’s Biomarkt gained access to an extensive range of cashless payment products to enable its customers to pay with a broad range of payment cards. In April denn’s introduced contactless payments at all of its stores in Austria enabling it to offer customers with contactless cards even greater speed and convenience at the check-out.

First Data is working with a number of retailers across Austria to install contactless terminal readers. Accepting contactless payments enables retailers to improve operational efficiency and enhance their service to customers.
