Agreement Enables Card Acceptance At More Than 100 Stores Across Poland

Warsaw, June 22, 2010 – First Data Corporation , a global leader in electronic commerce and payment processing, today announced that Polcard, its business in Poland, has signed an agreement with Netto Sp. z.o.o, a leading discount retailer in Poland. First Data has installed more than 500 terminals at nearly 120 stores across Poland, enabling Netto to accept card payments at Polish stores for the first time.

Netto operates a network of neighbourhood stores, offering consumers easy access to everyday products at low prices. “Our goal is simple: convenience, fast service and attractive prices,” said S?awomir Nitek, deputy, Netto Sp. z.o.o. “We were looking for smooth and seamless solutions for card processing and that’s why we decided to work with First Data.”

Netto’s implementation of card terminals is in response to growing customer demand for cashless payments. According to the National Polish Bank, Poles spent over 75 billion PLN via credit cards in 2009, which is 12 times more than in 2002.

The first Polish Netto store was established in 1995 in Szczecin. On average, each store spans 500 square metres and many shops are situated near densely populated residential areas. Netto currently has 190 outlets in Poland and continues to grow.
