First Data and Deutsche Bank Extend Relationship
WARSAW, Poland – November 17, 2009 – First Data , a global leader in electronic commerce and payment services, and Deutsche Bank PBC today announced the extension of their card issuing and processing agreement for an additional three years. First Data will support the launch of the bank’s Visa-branded payment card portfolio by providing card issuing and processing for chip-based cards.
The agreement between First Data and Deutsche Bank’s Polish operations started with the launch of the bank’s MasterCard-branded card portfolio in Poland a year ago. Additionally, First Data will deliver a variety of services that encompass the full life cycle of Deutsche Bank’s new Visa card portfolio, including providing transaction processing and monitoring and portfolio management, generating secure data for personalization, and managing cryptographic keys and card profiles.
“Our cooperation with First Data has gone very well and for this reason we have decided to expand our relationship and entrust First Data with our next project: issuing and management of our Visa card portfolio,” said Grzegorz Gorski, executive board member, Deutsche Bank PBC. “Deutsche Bank recognises the increasing demands of our customers and the need to develop a comprehensive and competitive product offering. Selecting First Data to implement this project enables us to build on our current relationship and to capitalize on the opportunities ahead.”
“Deutsche Bank is a highly respected banking sector client, and we are delighted that the bank has chosen us to support the rollout of its Visa-branded cards,” said Grzegorz D?ugosz, director of issuing at First Data’s operations in Poland. “Our ongoing relationship contributes not only to the expansion of the bank’s portfolio, but also to the modernization of its transaction systems, enhancing the quality of services delivered to customers.”
All Visa and MasterCard-branded cards, personalized by First Data today on Deutsche Bank’s behalf comply with EMV standards, providing compatibility with global payment systems and increasing transaction security for cardholders and merchants. Within the scope of this agreement, First Data will also introduce a range of new and innovative services for Deutsche Bank’s cardholders, such as enabling them to change their PINs via the bank’s Interactive Voice Response system.
