WARSAW July 18, 2011 – First Data Corporation, a global leader in electronic commerce and payment processing, today announced the expansion of its payment processing services agreement with Mazowiecki Bank Regionalny, one of the fastest-growing banks in Poland. As well as the ongoing provision of processing services, First Data will implement its Web Data Access eXchange (WDX) solution, enabling the bank to offer cardholders improved access to and control over their card accounts.

Web Data Access eXchange (WDX) is a web-based service, through which the bank can integrate its customer communication channels with First Data's payment systems, to offer cardholders access to integrated card and transaction data in real time. With the implementation of WDX, Mazowiecki Bank Regionalny cardholders will be able to check their card balances, view transaction and authorization histories, perform card activations and check whether the card is active or non active. WDX supports the bank's communication channels and enables cardholders to connect with the bank and access specific card information delivered by Short Message Service (SMS), Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) and/or Interactive Voice Response (IVR) technologies.

The payment solutions being implemented by First Data for Mazowiecki Bank Regionalny have enabled the bank to offer cardholders services such as:

  • Installment credit – enabling credit cardholders to perform convenient, installment repayments on card debt;
  • PIN-based card activations – enabling cardholders to activate their cards via PIN on the first transaction;
  • Online PIN verifications – a convenient web-based service that enables cardholders to unlock their cards if they become locked;
  • Debit cardholder customer contact centre services

"Mazowiecki Bank Regionalny's current priority is to promote two areas that underpin the business and its success: the quality of services that we offer customers and the speed with which we handle their accounts," said Danuta Kowalczyk, managing director of Mazowiecki Bank Regionalny. "Since the start of our relationship in 2002, First Data has continued to exceed our expectations and we hope that our ongoing collaboration will be equally fruitful."

"We have had the pleasure to support Mazowiecki Bank Regionalny, an important and experienced banking sector client, for several years and are delighted to expand the scope of our services agreement," said Grzegorz Długosz, a member of the board at First Data in Poland. "The introduction of these new products and services reflects the strength of our collaboration."
