Paybefore

In 2010 Walmart, with its partner First Data, effectively used prepaid cards to invite shoppers to new and newly remodeled stores. From August 2009 to October 2010, 40 percent of the cards sent were activated, and shoppers used 91 percent of the activated cards in Walmart stores. At the 2011 Paybefore Awards, the program took home Best in Category honors in the "Best Prepaid Program: Direct Marketing" category.
