First Data takes pride in helping communities in difficult times. This year, the company and its employees from around the globe vowed to help victims of the Haiti earthquake that occurred earlier this year. Through its employee giving program, credit card processing donation and company financial contribution, First Data has donated more than $650,000 to relief efforts. Thus far, the funds have gone to organizations such as UNICEF, Habit for Humanity and CARE.

The donations help support Haiti relief initiatives such as:

  • UNICEF’s immediate relief program, which provides food, shelter, clothing and medicine.
  • Habitat for Humanity’s “Long-term Recovery” project, which helps families build transitional shelters that can later be converted into permanent housing.
  • CARE’s rehabilitation plan running from 2011 to 2015 that will address issues such as earthquake-resistant construction and preparedness, rehabilitation of water systems, and reconstructing schools and health systems.

And our efforts are helping. Watch a brief video from UNICEF’s president regarding the impact of First Data’s generosity.

Since 2007, the combination of our corporate sponsorships, employee giving, product and services donations, disaster relief efforts and matching gift program made more than a $12 million charitable impact around the world.
