STAR CHEK® Direct

A New Revenue Source That Can Reduce Processing Costs STAR CHEK® Direct is an online, real-time check service that routes check transactions from the check acceptor directly to the financial institution via the STAR® Network. Two online check transaction types are supported:

Check Debit Payment
When a paper check is presented for payment to a retailer or other check acceptor, it can be converted into a real-time, online electronic check transaction. Funds are debited from the customer's account and credited to the merchant processor's account during the STAR Network's end-of-day settlement. The paper check is stamped and returned to the cardholder.

Check Verification
A retailer or check acceptor can choose to verify the status of the account against which the check is drawn and the availability of funds to cover the check amount in real-time online.
