NEW YORK, MARCH 9, 2018 – First Data (NYSE: FDC), a global leader in commerce-enabling technology, today released its inaugural Corporate Citizenship Report. The report details company initiatives for philanthropy, diversity and inclusion, military and veteran affairs, and disaster relief efforts, among other topics.
First Data has been nationally recognized for its work in creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. Most recently, First Data was included in the inaugural 2018 Bloomberg Gender Equality Index, which measures gender equality across internal company statistics, employee policies, external community support and engagement, and gender-conscious product offerings. To enhance its benefits to all employees, regardless of their gender, in 2017 First Data unveiled a new paid parental leave policy that provides 12 weeks paid leave for primary caregivers.
“From enhancing our employee benefits to helping communities and business owners get back on their feet in the wake of natural disasters to supporting veterans and military families, First Data is committed to being a good corporate citizen,” said Dr. Vivian Greentree, Senior Vice President, Corporate Citizenship. “As a leading global company, we have a responsibility to leverage our resources and energy to make a positive impact on our employees, our clients, and our communities.”
The Corporate Citizenship Report also highlights First Data’s response to Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria when the company provided assistance and aid to employees, clients, and local communities. For employees, the company offered resources and support, delivering food and water, supplying generators, and helping evacuate those who needed to relocate. For businesses, First Data rushed thousands of Clover Go payment devices to help them reopen, begin accepting payments again, and get back on their feet following the storms.
For its commitment to veterans and military spouses, last year First Data was named the #1 Employer on the “Best for Vets” list by The Military Times. The company’s military efforts reach beyond employment opportunities and also include education resources and best-in-class solutions for veteran-owned businesses.
In addition to these initiatives, First Data has established eight employee resource groups (ERGs). There is the Asian Leadership Council, Black Leadership Council, Women’s Leadership Council, UNITY (LGBT), YoPro (young professionals), Juntos (Hispanic and Latino community), Military Affinity Group, and Thrive (Disability Leadership Council).
