“Veteran of the Game” at New York Mets home games

NEW YORK, MAY 26, 2016 – In recognition of our nation’s veterans, First Data  (NYSE: FDC) is proud to partner with the New York Mets and sponsor the “Veteran of the Game” for all regular season home games in 2016. During each game at Citi Field, a New York Mets player will present the “Veteran of the Game” with an American flag that flew over Citi Field while Citi Vision plays a segment showcasing the soldier's achievements while serving in the military.

“As we enter into this Memorial Day weekend, First Data expresses its gratitude for the veterans and military families who served and sacrificed on our behalf,” said Tom Higgins, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, First Data Corporation. “I am proud of First Data’s history of supporting and honoring our nation’s veterans. This partnership with the New York Mets, a storied New York City sports franchise with its own strong tradition of honoring the military community, is a continuation of that commitment.”

“We are excited to partner with First Data as we both focus on recognizing and honoring our military,” said Wes Engram, Vice President, Corporate Partnerships, New York Mets. “It’s important for both of us to work together and show our appreciation for all those who have fought and continue to fight to protect our freedoms and keep us safe.”

Through First Data Salutes, a company-wide military engagement strategy, First Data provides the military community with access to career opportunities and best-in-class education resources, while offering premier technology solutions to veteran-owned businesses. As a result, First Data has established itself as a national leader in the support of veterans, National Guard and Reserve members and military spouses. First Data Salutes has rapidly increased the number of veteran and military spouse new hires, and the company recently earned the top ranking among Technology and Telecommunications companies as a “Military Spouse Friendly Employer” by Military Spouse Magazine, as well as special recognition on Monster/Military.com’s “Best Companies for Veterans” list.

The “Veteran of the Game” honor has been bestowed upon numerous service members from all branches of the military including Medal of Honor recipients, and First Data is proud to enhance the Mets’ recognition of  well-deserving veterans who dedicated their time and service to our country.

First Data will also be the presenting sponsor of the Military Softball Classic at Citi Field, an event bringing teams of veterans together for a day of softball games at the ballpark before taking in a Mets game later in the day.
