First Data Earns Perfect Score as a Best Place to Work for LGBT Community on the 2017 Corporate Equality Index

For third consecutive year, First Data scores 100 percent on Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Annual Scorecard on LGBT Workplace Equality

NEW YORK, December 5, 2016 – First Data (NYSE: FDC), a global leader in commerce-enabling technology, proudly announced today that it received a perfect score of 100 percent on the Corporate Equality Index (CEI) for a third consecutive year. The CEI is a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality that is administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.

“We are proud that First Data has once again been recognized for fostering a workplace culture that celebrates diversity and values LGBT equality,” said Cindy Armine-Klein, Executive Vice President, Chief Control Officer, and founder of UNITY, First Data’s LGBT employee resource group. “This perfect score from CEI validates our effort to create a welcoming and inclusive work environment that embraces our differences and ultimately strengthens our company.”

“Through 15 editions of the annual Corporate Equality Index, major private sector employers have demonstrated over and over that inclusion is not just the right thing to do, it makes for a stronger, more successful business,” said Deena Fidas, Director of HRC’s Workplace Equality Program. “From centuries-old companies to those that have existed for just a few years, major employers have adopted LGBT-inclusive policies and benefits at rates that continue to outpace lawmakers and lead the way forward.”

First Data’s commitment to diversity spans across all aspects of its business. Earlier this year, the company launched a supplier diversity program to emphasize the importance of working with supplier networks owned by minority, women, LGBT, and veterans. Additionally, UNITY, First Data’s LGBT employee resource group, is just one of eight employee resource groups available to its employees.
